I read John Bruzon's article with interest. My problem is with the
left hand. Joints collapse, the index finger flys up and the thumb turns out as though I was giving a thumbs up. It is difficult to make all fingers strike at the same time when playing a simple chord with 4-2-1. If I make an effort to keep the index finger down then 3 and 4 want to curl up. I am 50 years old and strictly an amateur now but in college I managed to perform pieces such Jeux D'eau, the Scriabin 10th Sonata and the Beethoven Op. 81A. I have tried to keep up my playing and bought a new Baldwin L three years ago so I am still serious about this. I would appreciate any advice and information about the treatments some of you have tried. |
