Edit
Kelly,
There is a woman who has both CP and dystonia on the DBSforDytonia yahoo group. I think some of your family members are on there, right? The group is at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/DBSforDystonia/ and ask for Deb if you post there, as she is the one I am talking about. She is not a child, but she has had CP since she was young.

Also, regarding your son's presentation, you might suggest that he try to think of things that the kids could relate to when he describes his symptoms. For instance, before I was diagnosed with dystonia my working diagnosis was myoclonus. When a child asked me why my body was jerking, I told him it was like my body had the hiccups (they are a type of normal myoclonus). Depending on your son's symptoms, he might tell them it is like having a cramp or a charlie horse all the time, or something like that. It helps to put it in words the kids can relate to. They are usually very accepting and curious when they know what is going on, although some may "pick" on the weaker kids at times. Please update us and let us know how the presentation goes, OK?

Blessings
Ramona
