My name is Tanja, I'm from South Africa. Apologies if my English is not up to standard, my first language is Afrikaans. I got married in December 2007. My husband dont understand my condition (spasmic torticollis), no matter how many times I tried explaining it to him. I took botox injections for about a year, but with no effect. I am not on any medication at the moment, its just as if there are no cure, why would I take meds that dont work anyways. Simple tasks, like making coffee or writing a letter is hard for me. My husband is a very social person, and I can't keep up with him. He cant understand why I want to keep away from socials.. It's as if my dystonia dissapear completely when I'm at home and relaxed. But as soon as I'm exposed to people I get the spasmic torticollis. At one stage I thought I had a social foby and not dystonia. I have to change jobs, I cant be around people any more, I just cant take the staring anymore. I dont know how to handle it anymore. Any advise or inspirational word from anyone. |
