Hi Tanja, You say that when you are home and relaxed you are ok, but as soon as you are "exposed to people", you have problems. Based on my own experiences over the last 10 years, I sincerely doubt that "people" are the problem, but rather the environment that you are seeing them in is what causes the problems. My condition changes dramatically from place to place. For example, at my house I may only have mild shoulder issues going, but I can go out in my yard and have no problems whatsoever. I get in my car and drive, and my mouth/jaw start to spasm in certain locations. When I go into WalMart (big store), my eyes shut completely down inside the store. Back in the parking lot, maybe only shoulder up mildly. Go into the grocery store and my eyes spasm in the aisles, mouth spasms near the beer cooler, and my shoulder raises up and my right eye closes down when I go to check out. When I go to a Dystonia Support Group Meeting at a hospital nearby, my shoulder is way up inside the hospital and I have all kinds of intermittent eye and mouth spasms. Go back out to my car and I have very few problems. We (my wife and I) have determined that what I am reacting to is the electrical environment, different energy frequencies cause different spasms. One definite recommendation I would make is to make sure you are wearing only 100% cotton clothes - synthetic clothes like polyester, rayon, nylon, etc. cause me big problems. Want to test my theory? Have your husband organize a social gathering with his friends during the day out at some sort of park or the beach or somewhere where you are well away from electrical stuff like power lines, etc. I'll bet you can interact fine with people there. If that turns out to be true, post here or send me an e-mail and I'll give you some other things to try that might help. TomSpasm |
