Hi everyone :-)I've just got back from a fantastic holiday in Icmeler, Turkey. I went with Steven, my other half, and two friends - all of us wheelchair users. It was very difficult finding somewhere we could all manage, but we did and it was great!
Most of the time, I felt fab and hardly had any kind of pain, which was probably because of the heat and me feeling extremely relaxed. However, there was one occasion when I really wasn't well. I won't go into too much detail about what it was but, basically, I had really bad stomach cramps and ended up on the toilet :-( However, that wasn't all. I started to sweat really badly. So much so that it was literally dripping onto the bathroom floor! Then I nearly passed out and I couldn't keep my eyes open. As if that wasn't bad enough, my tongue started spasming and I couldn't speak. I have never experienced anything like that before. Steven was starting to really worry as he was talking to me but I couldn't concentrate on him, or look at him. And I really couldn't speak to him because of my tongue spasming. This was a very strange thing for me, as he normally can't shut me up lol!! I do, ordinarilly, have a little bit of a speech impairment, but my tongue doesn't spasm like that so I was getting a little concerned. From the moment all of these symptoms started, it lasted about 2hrs. I'm presuming my tongue spasms were dystonia, but was wondering if anything like this had happened to anyone else who dosen't normally experience problems with their tongue?
It was all very odd but luckily it didn't last long and had no other impact on our holiday. I'm guessing Steve may sometimes secretly wish the tongue thing would happen more often so I would shut up!!
