I am now receiving SSI. I had to get a lawyer to appeal after I was denied. It is so much easier with their help. I was denied at first because of my age and education/work. I am 27 now, just got SSI a year ago. I didn't have to pay the lawyer until after SSI approved me. They just get paid from the back pay that SSI owes you. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!!
