Hi. People tend to have particular types of headaches. Sadly, mine take the form of migraines. I have been getting them now when my shoulder/back muscles tense up. I immediately try to relax my muscles with heating pads as the pain starts at the base of my neck and slowly progresses to the right side of my head. It is a kind of no-turning-back once it gets beyond a certain point and I am stuck with a horrible migraine for 2 1/2 days. Once the headache has taken hold, there is little relief but I have found heating pads, neck massage, a hot shower with the shower fallin on my neck, or warm (not hot...don't want to burn yourself) blow dryer aimed on the right side of my head/neck do give temporary relief. The only thing I can take now is aspirin since I have grown intollerant to advil, aleve, tylenol, excedrin, and what-ever stuff the doc used to prescribe. I growing intolerant to aspirin, though, so prevention seems to be my only escape from these horrible headaches. Triggers can be typing too long, using my fore arm crutch for too long a distance in a day, falling asleep in my too-soft sofa, and the common dystonic attacks (my muscles just tense up on their own, sometimes). Hope this helps,
