Hi Linda When my speech was at its worst I could barely form the words I was trying to say; and like you I seemed to have difficulty beginning words (and also finishing them) - a sort of mixture of stuttering and slurring. I didn't have a problem with volume, but as my work involves speaking to customers all day long I was off work for about 4 months until the speech improved and became 'manageable'. The problem now is that the spasms/involuntary movements - which most days are relentless - is making it very difficult to work effectively; it's becoming very uncomfortable and painful due to the constant contractions especially. At least you've confirmed that it's possible to have a mixture of Dystonia types, so thanks for telling me your story, it's been a great help. Chris |
