Guitarist, Yes, I think you are exactly correct. I found that the "large muscle" idea worked only to a point (for me). Farias encouraged me to use all muscles and to play very fast but very softly with the small muscles. Still, every once in a while, I think about playing with the "whole arm." No harm I guess.
