Edit
Guitarist,
I didn't ask about his cure rate but the numbers may be murky. I took lessons with him years ago and didn't stay with the program as I saw a four plus year struggle as impossible to endure. Now, using pretty much the same techniques I'm seeing dramatic improvement. Would you say he failed last time?

The large movements are, I believe, only to "introduce" the large muscles to the team effort of appying a force on the strings. Even at high speed where there is no discernable movement of the arm I believe the large muscles are still contributing to the process. As in the youtube clip, you'll notice when he uses an ima chord, the arm comes up, and when he is playing with p loudly you'll see the arm drop down. Obviously, im scales at 120 are 99.99% finger.

It's been a week now and I'm becoming more comfortable with holding the thumb out and I'm noticing a big difference with both the hand feeling freer, and less sensation of the fd. The thumb thing is a huge part of solving my problem, mainly i and p contributing, it may not be so dramatic for others with a different manifestation of this horrible affliction.

I believe I can beat this now, it's just going to take time.
