Hello,I have a degree in piano performance, and have also been diagnosed with Blepharospasm, focal dystonia of the eyelids. I have not developed a focal dystonia of the hands relating to my piano playing.
My daughter, 13, is studying trombone, doing really well, and has the potential to go very far with it. Based on your research of musician's dystonia, do you think this family history puts her at increased risk of an embouchure dystonia?
She also studies piano, though not nearly as seriously.
Can you recommend any techniques we might employ to reduce the risk of her developing any kind of musician's dystonia?
Thank you,
A concerned mother
