Edit
Hello,

Maybe you need to specify which finger is affected and which the compensatory one is.

I'm a bassist with right hand FD, on my way to recovery.
Regular bass right hand technique is alternating index and middle fingers. In my case the middle finger is affected and my pinkie is the compensatory one meaning it wants to move together with the middle even though it shouldn't (that's one side of FD - temporary loss of finger independence and motor control). By resting my pinkie on a string it relaxes and allows the index and middle to move freely, however if I raise it in the air FD is right there.

The difference between your banjo and guitar techniques is that while playing the banjo you rest your pinkie and little fingers on the body while, when playing guitar, you use your pinkie to pluck the strings. It's a good starting point to find your affected and compensatory fingers so you know which ones to pay
close attention to while doing your recovery exercises.
