Edit
"What exactly do you mean when Farias says it takes 9-12 months to restore control?"

Dr Farias is based in Spain and has helped several people this board and many more around the world. What is extraordinary is the success he is having in coaching people back to recovery. Note I didn't use the word 'treat'.

He has published figures relating to the people he has helped and his observations are based on those.

He has a website which I cannot link to due to the rules of ths board, this is a quote from his website FAQ. It was actually 6-12 months:

"How much time do I need to recover using Inductive Proprioceptive Stimulation ?
The average time of recovery of 90-100% of abilities is established as six months to one year of training. Some individuals have recovered 80 to 95% in 3 months. These cases refer to the duration of self -training between the first and the last session"

Yes, you are right about my condition - RH M finger. A few years ago my hand was a mess, I could not play ANYTHING using all my fingers and had to make do with forefinger and thumb, all other fingers closed in my palm. I am now playing Intermediate classical guitar repertoire comfortably, with only a small remnant of my FD still there (sluggish M finger which is OK after a good warm up, A finger overcompensates slightly by flexing, but only when I push things like fast IM scales.) I can now play a slow tremolo and I am playing around with the Villa Lobos Etude #1 - unthinkable a few years ago.

I have posted here several times about my retraining and the things that helped me. You might want to use the search finction to reasearch these.

To detail everything all again in one post would take a lot of time and would be no small task. I am considering writing a series of articles on the subject and publishing them on my website, or maybe even a book. The most important thing for me was when I saw parallels in the approaches taken by people who had conquered FD. Read HKC's story here and read up on Farias - they are saying the same things. So too is Joaquin Fabra, another leading light in the world of musicians FD.
