I've heard all this before. But really, folks, do any of you know any professional musicians who don't do this? For example, Philip Farkas, one of the most amazing horn players of the 20th century, practiced 3 hours every day, every day of the year his whole life (a lot for a brass player). He was criticized by some as being obsessed with his embouchure. He was always analysing it and experimenting, he wrote books about it, etc. He performed with near perfection. But, Philip Farkas did not ever develop FD.

I don't know if it's true, but when I was a child studying piano, I was told the Liberache practiced piano 8 hours a day. I don't know how many hours he practiced, but it had to be a lot for him to accomplish what he did, but he never developed FD.

I don't know what causes us unfortunate souls to get FD, but I don't think it's over practicing and being perfectionists. If that was the "cause" of FD, then EVERY accomplished musician would have it.

Just my 2 cents.
