http://www.musicianshealth.co.uk/research.html Scroll down to see picture of a splint. I used a splint for months with limited improvement - still have it but never use it. They are made from a thermoplastic substance that is heated in hot water then cut and moulded to the shape of your hand. Velcro strips strap the support on. All a splint does is fix the fingers that are overcompensating and flexing, allowing you to try and work the dystonic finger - in your case your middle finger (same as me). I came up with the idea of using wine corks as supports as it achieves the same purpose eg if your little finger and ring finger flex/curl into the hand involuntarily when you play I-M scales, place a wine cork under the ring and little finger as a support to prevent them from curling tightly into the hand. If you have bigger hands or use a more open hand position, maybe a ping pong ball would do. Anything that suppports the fingers in a neutral position. The problem with all this is that there is still tension in your hand - try and play with your dystonic finger and the other fingers will tightly grip the support/brace/splint.
