I have been experimenting with this idea for about three weeks with great success and thought I would present it here so that others here could try it and see what happens.
I am a guitarist with focal dystonia in the right picking/plucking hand. I turn the guitar around to the position of playing left-handed and use an 8x10 mirror which I place on my right leg and hold with my right hand. I then play with my left hand only while looking in the mirror which makes it look like it is my right hand that is playing perfectly without any dystonic movements. I do this for 15 minutes every day and have had dramatic improvement in my right hand technique. I had previously been using the threshold technique but it seemed like I was stuck at a certain point and could not progress any further. The mirror has changed everything.
I first saw this idea on TV news concerning treatment of phantom limb pain with war veterans and wondered if it might work for dystonia.
Perhaps some people would like to try this and share their results? I truly hope this idea will help some people here.Peter
