Edit
Good for you Valerie.

I regret not filming my hand too. In fact, a therapist I saw a few years back DID film my focal dystonia and I have been trying to get copies off her ever since :-(

I believe you are right about embouchure dystonia, and that it applies to any musician's focal dystonia.

The trouble is that years ago when this problem was first observed, it was given the tag 'dystonia' which is a kind of generic term for uncontrollable muscular contractions. For people with generalised dystonia this is of course a serious neurological condition, but lumping us in with them has done us no good. We do not belong in the same category and should not really be here, under the auspices of the dystonia medical research foundation.

The time is long overdue for this phenomenon - musicians dystonia in all its forms - to be reassessed, RENAMED, and seen for what it is. - something which is caused behaviourally + psychologically, and something which is effectively reversed by the same means.
