My condition of 12 or so years is similar to weiqi's, my right thumb contracts when used to pluck a string or when triggered by use of my first finger. In pre-dystonia days I played successfully both with a pick and with traditional classical technique. I wonder which technique might be easier to re-capture. The pick typically uses larger muscles (wrist and/or forearm), but the fingers aren't treated independently (blurred brain mapping), while classical technique uses smaller muscles but treats the fingers more independently (more individuated brain mapping). Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike.
