Edit
Hi Guitarist,

I was struck by your question "are you a rock player and did you play lots of left hand legato shapes with a wide spread?". This is exactly what I did and I believe this was instrumental in bringing on my FD. I could almost play Flying in a Blue Dream up to speed and decided to knuckle down and really "nail" my legato. Three months later and I couldn't play more than one note.

Did you have the same experience?

There seems to be a paradox in your suggesting the ring/pinky alternating exercises will be hard togther with the assertion that forcing control will make things worse. If things are hard then surely more effort (control) is required? I probably missed a subtle point somewhere but are you saying the key to recovery is somewhere in the twilight zone of exerting control and reliquishing it?
