I'm a drummer, diagnosed with focal dystonia in January of this year and have been under the care of a neurologist since then. So far I have been treated with the drug Artane. The Artane did significantly improve my symptoms but the side effects were horrible. I'm about to begin taking another drug called Baclofen. And of course Botox has been offered if the other drugs fail. I'm well aware that these medications can only address the symptoms and are not a cure. I have read many success stories here about recovery through re-training (Farias, Fabra, Byl, etc.) But little mention of drug therapy. My question is this: Does any drug really work? Has anyone here returned to normal funtion through the use of medications?
