Edit
Hi guitartron

http://www.dystonia-bb.org/forums/mwd/posts/2491.html

Lots of people in this forum have been helped by Fabra, and as you can see by the link above, some of us have been promoting these ideas for a while. I have written many posts on the subject and I agree with just about everything you say in your video. I too used these ideas to recover, but also used other ideas that I could see being applied succesfully to help move the process on.

Check out those links in my posts - as you can see, the concepts that Fabra appies have been around a while, they an important approach for musicians to get their head around in understanding their bodies, whether they suffer from FD or not.

By the way, whenever I encounter a guitarist with FD in their fingering hand, the first question I ask is whether they are a rock player and play lots of left hand legato like Satriani :-) Search this forum and you will find me asking that a lot, and the answer is often yes.

You are right about certain personalities being at risk, and there are other risk facors too - like certain stressful (for the nervous system) techniques that come with certain instrumnets or styles of music. Repetitive full planting is one that springs to mind for us classical players.

Injuries too, can throw us off the track of smooth unconcious motor control and cause us to over focus on the mechanism rather than the output.

Glad to hear of you recovery and well done on the video. The more we get of this in the public domain, the better.

PS I had FD for 9 years too :-)
