Dave, being that your focal dystonia affected so so much other taks other than playing, is it possible that yours is not actually a "musician's" one?With time I had got affected typing or simply tapping the fingers on the table top or anywere else actually, but not other tasks and so hard as it happened to you, well I should consider as well that I got affected my left fretting hand and I am right handed so probably that's why it didn't affect other tasks so much... I don't know.
Anyway, I have the personal belief that "musician's focal dystonia" is not actually a "focal dystonia".
