Edit
I cannot claim 100% recovery, but can now play "freely" a large array of repertoire without symptoms. This was not true from 1985 through 2005. There are still a few things that are weak, and I too cannot yet do a "real" tremolo up to speed (and no, it's not for lack of practice), although I'm ecstatic to report I CAN play a slow tremolo and it's getting better.

I assume guitarist is referring to the all-finger fingering for Villa Lobos Etude#1 (was it Segovia's?), and I cannot do that fast. But I CAN play that piece quite fast using just p and m (for me, m was the first finger to break loose, and "i" is still a little groggy). If you haven't tried the thumb and 1-finger approach, it's a lot of fun and I find it therapeutic.
I use it as a tool with p and i also, to work on indepenence between those two digits.

BTW, "dominique" recently posted a msg of full recovery. I'm still hoping to hear more of her story.
