I saw two hand therapists - both specialist in musicians’ injuries and one actually one of the UK's leading authorities on FD - over the years and both of them pointed out that I was tensing up my right shoulder a lot (even though I was completely unaware at the time).
They gave me exercises to do to de-tense the shoulder and felt it was important to do this as part of recovering from any injury and as a precursor to trying any rehab exercises with my hand.Although I never experienced pain, for me it stands to reason that this is not only possible but quite likely for anyone tensing up their shoulder as a result of having FD for any length of time.
